News About Arrear Fees- 23/9/2010
Dear Friends,
Actually u might be fed up of our college r8.Another fed up is that students can come and pay the fees directly @ NIET and the last date is September 27th.I don't know whether this is true. Here we can see the lack of information between the college and university ties . here , who are getting caught ? the students. The new news is students can pay the fees @ NIET as the online exam website counters some problem. If they give a date . They should fix with it.

Some Usefull Questions & Answers for My Friends Attending Their Engineering Mechancis
1.State Varignons Theorem
The algebraic sum of the moments of any number of forces about any point in their plane is equal to the moment of their resultant about the same point .Varignons theorem is also known as theorem of movements
2.Give the equations of equilibrium of coplanar force systems
Equilibrium Equation For Coplanar force system:
For a force system which comprises of forces with their lines of action in the same plane and the moments due to couples which are directed perpendicular to the plane, the conditions of equilibrium can be written as:
Σ Fx = 0 (sum of all horizontal forces)
Σ Fy = 0 (sum of all verfical forces)
and Σ M = 0 (sum of all moments)
the summation of moments may be taken about any point on the XY plane but it should be about the Z-axis through the chosen point. The body thus can only be in equilibrium if the algebraic sum of all the external forces and their moments about any point in their plane is zero.
3.State Principles of Transimissibility?
The principle of transmissibility says that a force can be applied
anywhere along its line of action, with no change in any of the
effects on the body.
4.State Lami's Theorem?
Simple:
When three forces act on a particle in equilibrium, the magnitude of each is proportional to the sine of the angle between the other two.
Elaborated:
In statics, the Lami's theorem is an equation relating the magnitudes of three coplanar, concurrent and non-collinear forces, which keeps an object in static equilibrium, with the angles directly opposite to the corresponding forces. According to the law,
where A, B and C are the magnitudes of three coplanar, concurrent and non-collinear forces, which keeps the object in static equilibrium, and
α, β and γ are the angles directly opposite to the forces A, B and C respectively.
5.Define Moment of a Force
The Moment of a force is a measure of its tendency to cause a body to rotate about a specific point or axis. This is different from the tendency for a body to move, or translate, in the direction of the force. In order for a moment to develop, the force must act upon the body in such a manner that the body would begin to twist. This occurs every time a force is applied so that it does not pass through the centroid of the body. A moment is due to a force not having an equal and opposite force directly along it's line of action.
6.Centroid
the word centroid means the geometric center of the object's shape, as above, but barycenter may also mean its physical center of mass or the center of gravity, depending on the context. Informally, the center of mass (and center of gravity in a uniform gravitational field) is the average of all points, weighted by the local density or specific weight. If a physical object has uniform density, then its center of mass is the same as the centroid of its shape.
7.Centre of Gravity
The center-of-gravity (CG) is the point at which an aircraft would balance if it were possible to suspend it at that point. It is the mass center of the aircraft, or the theoretical point at which the entire weight of the aircraft is assumed to be concentrated.[1] Its distance from the reference datum is determined by dividing the total moment by the total weight of the aircraft.[2] The center-of-gravity point affects the stability of the aircraft. To ensure the aircraft is safe to fly, the center-of-gravity must fall within specified limits established by the manufacturer.
8.Parallel Axis Theorem
The moment of inertia of any object about an axis through its center of mass is the minimum moment of inertia for an axis in that direction in space. The moment of inertia about any axis parallel to that axis through the center of mass is given by
The expression added to the center of mass moment of inertia will be recognized as the moment of inertia of a point mass - the moment of inertia about a parallel axis is the center of mass moment plus the moment of inertia of the entire object treated as a point mass at the center of mass.
9.Kinematics
It is the study of a body in motion, with considering the forces, that cause motion.
Kinematics is used to relate displacement, velocity, acceleration, time taken etc.. of bodies without any reference to the cause of motion.
10.Static friction
Static friction is friction between two solid objects that are not moving relative to each other. For example, static friction can prevent an object from sliding down a sloped surface. The coefficient of static friction, typically denoted as μs, is usually higher than the coefficient of kinetic friction.
The static friction force must be overcome by an applied force before an object can move. The maximum possible friction force between two surfaces before sliding begins is the product of the coefficient of static friction and the normal force: f = \mu_s F_{n}\,. When there is no sliding occurring, the friction force can have any value from zero up to F_{max}\,. Any force smaller than F_{max}\, attempting to slide one surface over the other is opposed by a frictional force of equal magnitude and opposite direction. Any force larger than F_{max}\, overcomes the force of static friction and causes sliding to occur. The instant sliding occurs, static friction is no longer applicable—the friction between the two surfaces is then called kinetic friction.
11.Kinetic Friction
Kinetic (or dynamic) friction occurs when two objects are moving relative to each other and rub together (like a sled on the ground). The coefficient of kinetic friction is typically denoted as μk, and is usually less than the coefficient of static friction for the same materials.[13][14] In fact, Richard Feynman reports that "with dry metals it is very hard to show any difference."[15] Finally, new models are beginning to show how kinetic friction can be greater than static friction.

Some Useful Tips Hope It Will Help You For Exams
Strategies for Exam Result -- Prepared By M.Vivekanandan,IT Department ,Easwari Engineering College,Chennai-89.
My Own suggestion for students to get at least pass mark in the exam .
Before the examination
1. Forget about cramming during the reading break, or the night before the examination. Your brain cannot assimilate a lot of new material in a short period of time.
2. Be prepared. Know the material in the course before you enter the examination. Good marks are easier to obtain if you have confidence that you know the material on which you are being examined. This means that you must study the textbook and class notes and ask questions in class or tutorial throughout the term, if something is unclear.
3. Try to explain the fundamentals of the subject to a classmate. If you do not understand the principles, you can't explain them to someone else.
4. Review the day's lectures at the end of each lecture day.
5. Review the week's lectures at the end of each week.
6. Review the lecture and lab material at the end of each month.
7. Prepare for open or closed book examinations. It has been found that with proper preparation, there is little difference in writing either type of examination. Where handbooks or codes are required because of the need for complex formulae or material properties, the basic theory is often available and does not need to be memorized, or be derivable from first principles. It is necessary, though to know how to apply the theory correctly.
8. For open book examinations determine if the instructor will allow additional written material to be placed on the covers or blank pages of the textbook.
9. In open book examinations use only the textbook that you are familiar with. If you rifle the library for every book you can find on the subject, you will waste most of your valuable examination time reading, and not writing.
In the examination:
It is important that you be in the correct frame of mind when writing examinations. Don't let extraneous material or thoughts interfere with your concentration. Do everything to calm down and get ready for the writing. If you know the material, you should be confident that you can handle any problem given to you.
1. During the time before the examination, write your name on the exam books and fill in all the blank lines on the cover sheet. Write as neatly as possible. This is a means of calming your nerves by being busy. Number the pages in the exam book. If you have time at the end of the examination, provide an index to your solutions. The marker will be grateful for that.
2. Read the entire exam before starting to write. Decide on the easiest problem to solve first and leave the difficult ones to the end. Problems don't have to be solved in the order in which they appear on the examination. Occasionally this examiner will place the very difficult problems first on the exam paper, and the number of students who fall into the trap of starting the examination with the hard or lengthy problem is remarkable. Nothing destroys a student's confidence more than having trouble, and wasting time, on the very first problem of the examination.
3. Work neatly! Use a straightedge and an eraser and a soft pencil. The marker will not spend much time trying to fathom what you had in mind if everything is disorganized.
4. Proportion your time according to the marks given for each question in the examination. Ten descriptive answers worth 10 marks will not justify spending 35 minutes of examination time. If no marks are given for each question, ask the invigilator, or assume that the questions are of equal value.
5. Note any assumptions you make and justify them. Students who get lost in a problem will often note, Assume the value of this function is so-and-so, when it is so-and-so that is required. Such broad assumptions get no marks at all.
6. In open book examinations it is futile to try to summarize theory which is contained in the book you are using and expect to gain some marks. Anyone can copy from a book.
7. When working on numerical questions which carry over from one page to another, be very careful in transcribing numbers. This is a source of a large number of errors in structural analysis problems.
8. Review in your mind how you will solve the problem at hand. The logic of the solution should be apparent to the marker. Keep the solution linear so that everything follows in a logical straight line. Avoid jumping from left to right pages, or to pages ahead or back. While it may be clear in your mind how the solution is progressing, the marker may not take the time to follow your thinking and that will lead to poor marks.
9. Be cautious in the use of a programmable calculator. Often a student will give an answer with no intervening calculations. This may indicate to the marker that the answer has been guessed, or a programmable calculator has been used. If the answer is correct, you will get the marks, but if it is wrong, then zero will be the reward. It would be useful to show the marker the logic of how you went about getting the answers, although detailed calculations are not shown.
10. Multiple choice tests can be scored to discourage guessing. Watch out for trick questions which are confusing or unclear. Always ask the invigilator if you are uncertain about the meaning of any question.
11. Follow instructions given in the examination to the letter. Don't give more than what is requested, nor less. This examiner is looking for some particular knowledge of the subject material and he should get only what he asks for.
12. If a particular method of solution is requested, don't give the examiner anything else. He has his reasons for asking for that method.
13. Don't ever be psyched out by an examination. If you are ready, and know the material for the course and present it neatly and logically, you will be successful. The form of the exam is irrelevant if you are prepared. Look upon the exam as a challenge.
14. If you think that the final mark you received in the examination is not what you deserved, talk to the instructor. Most professors are reasonable and will go over your paper. In the event that you still feel that you would like a more formal evaluation of your final mark, apply to the Registrar's office for a formal review of the mark. There will be a small fee for this service which will be refunded if the mark is raised.
